The Tales of a Thrift-a-holic

The Tales of a Thrift-a-holic

In the last few years I’ve become just a tad bit more conscious of the way I spend my money toward the clothes that I wear. I have quit spending so much money on things that won’t last and more on clothes that I know can stand the test of time and trends. Not that I won’t purchase something that’s “new” because I do like nice things and shit happens, but I’ve been a lot more conscious to where I spend my money and the causes it can support. But we’re here to talk about my sustainable shopping habits today.

So that’s where thrifting comes in — I’m a child of thrifting parents and the girlfriend to someone that thrives in the second-hand luxury market. I’ve been selling my own sneakers and buying from others for quite some time now, so why not incorporate the way I shop for clothes in that same mix. Especially after rediscovering my love for worn in tees, I’ve ditched a lot of fast fashion and took to the ever-growing world of thrift shops online. Depop and Grailed are two of my favorite online thrift and second-hand clothing websites to browse now when I’m up late. But I make sure to visit the local thrift shops (Select Vintage is my go-to) around my neighborhood that have really great options too. Not to mention Yesterday + Daily in Miami gives Round Two a run for it’s money & you can quote me on that.

Queue in this sick tee (first pic) I’ve got thanks to the fam at Select Vintage back in Brooklyn and to the beautifully friendly people that helped the epic hunt around Mississippi and Louisiana. It’s a hot one down in the south this summer so we tried to make the most of it.

Didn’t hit on too much but I found this gem pair of vintage Levi’s 505s for $1 at the local Goodwill. I’ve linked a pair you can still buy through amazon but definitely not for $1, haha.

Anyway, on one afternoon while casually browsing my frequent online haunts (Depop), I came across a few grails (one that I already own but have beaten to the ground). A few messages later and BLAM! I got the craziest bundle deal on three pairs of Jordan 1s that I’ve had my eyes peeled for for a long time. I love the ability to thrift online with apps like Depop and Grailed. It makes my life so much easier and you can find things outside of your local community. Totally recommend, btw.

I re-up’d on Patent Chicago 1s in my proper size (feet never stop growing btw), ‘08 B/W Jordan 1s, and Patent Black/Gold Jordan 1s.

XOXO

p.s. this is not sponsored. but i believe in the law of attraction — so Depop & Grailed, holler at ya girl.
