Let's talk two things: history and air.
The air max 1 is a shoe that has revolutionized the way sneakers have been looked at and designed since its debut in 1987. Inspired by the inside-out design of Le Centres George Pompidou in Paris, Tinker Hatfield took the Air Max cushioning hidden beneath the foam of the midsole and made it the focal point of the shoe's aesthetic. Over the years since its release, the Air Max 1 has gone from mesh and suede to leather and mini-swooshes to elephant prints. From foam soles and sulfur hexafluoride air bubbles to more durable soles like lunarlon and longer lasting nitrogen air bags. This year, the Air Max 1 got another update -- from suede and mesh to the ever light and popular flyknit with a hollowed sole and the always classic visible air.
